Product Introduction
Products Description
Flame retardant (FR) nonwoven fabrics are nonwoven materials that have been treated with flame-retardant chemicals, or produced with inherently flame-resistant fibers. They are designed to slow ignition, prevent flame spread and self-extinguish once the heat source is removed.
Because of their lightweight structure, stable mechanical strength and reliable flame resistance, they are widely used in electronics, transformers, battery insulation, automotive interiors, filtration systems, construction materials and other industries that require fire safety.
Available in PP and PET, from 20 to 700 gsm and in roll widths up to 2,200 mm, they can be supplied plain or with added antistatic, waterproof, laminated or adhesive-coated functionality.

Flame Retardant Performance
Because there is no single "FR" grade, the standard a fabric meets depends on the substrate, weight and flame-retardant system:
UL94 V-0 / V-1 / V-2 - vertical burn test for plastics, commonly requested for battery and electronic components
GB 8624 B1 - Chinese building-material flammability class
FMVSS 302 - flammability requirement for automotive interior materials
Test reports can be provided for specific grades. Tell us your target standard and we will recommend a matching construction.
How It Works
There are two production routes:
FR-treated - the nonwoven is finished with flame-retardant chemistry (coating or padding) to give it its flame resistance.
Inherently flame-resistant fibers - the nonwoven is built from fibers that are flame resistant by nature.
We help you choose the right route based on your target standard, weight and end use.
Key Functions
1. Flame resistance & self-extinguishing
Even when exposed to a flame, the material burns slowly and stops burning once the ignition source is removed.
2. Thermal protection
Provides an insulation barrier in electrical and electronic assemblies, limiting heat transfer and improving system safety.
3. Lightweight & flexible
Easy to cut, laminate and wrap, and easy to run on automated production lines - well suited to coil insulation, battery packs and packaging layers.
4. Electrical & surface protection
Helps reduce the risk of short circuits, arc damage and mechanical abrasion in electrical devices.
5. Customizable performance
Can be produced with antistatic, antibacterial, waterproof or adhesive-coated finishes, or as a multilayer composite.

FAQ
1. What is a flame retardant nonwoven fabric? A nonwoven fabric treated with flame-retardant chemistry, or made from inherently flame-resistant fibers, so that it resists ignition, slows flame spread and self-extinguishes when the heat source is removed.
2. What flame-retardant standards can your fabrics meet? Depending on substrate, weight and FR system, our grades can meet UL94 V-0 / V-1 / V-2, GB 8624 B1 and FMVSS 302. Please tell us the standard you need so we can recommend a matching grade.
3. Should I choose PP or PET? It depends mainly on temperature. PP nonwoven works at 80–110 °C, while PET nonwoven is rated 120–150 °C (some grades up to 180 °C).
4. What weight and width are available? Weight from 20 to 700 gsm (20–300 gsm is most common); roll width from 10 mm to 2,200 mm, both customizable.
5. Can you add antistatic, waterproof or adhesive properties? Yes. We can supply FR coating, antistatic treatment, waterproofing, lamination with release paper/film and hot-melt adhesive bonding.
6. What is your MOQ and lead time? MOQ is 1,000 rolls per size; lead time is 10–20 days. Samples can be provided for evaluation.
7. Can you supply die-cut sheets instead of rolls? Yes. We supply both roll stock and custom die-cut sheet shapes.
