Mica slip plane

Mica slip plane (in roll or sheet form) is a specially impregnated and pressed mica products which consist of phlogopite mica paper, glass fiber cloth, silicon resin and special layer like ceramic fabric or stainless steel. The thickness ranges from 0.2mm to 2.5mm, tensile strength is above N/15mm and temperature resistance is above 800- 1200°C . Mica Slip Plane materials are primarily designed to separate refractory linings from the coil grout of coreless induction furnaces and offer the following benefits:
• provides a vapor barrier against carbon gases,
• provides superior slip plane properties and protects the inductor coils from the expansion and contraction forces caused by thermal expansion of refractory lining,
• provides electrical insulation between the energized coil and the molten metal,
• optimizes the heat flow to prevent over-sintering of the refractory lining,
• prevents early leakage and subsequent costly damage to the coil,
• facilitates the “push out” of worn crucibles/linings
• extends the life of the crucible/refractory thereby reducing maintenance costs and down time,
• GR-Combi prevents excessive heat loss,
• GR-304 mesh/ GR 304 tanged plate provides a security alarm system for molten metal leakage.

304 mesh: mica + stainless steel mesh + mica
GR flexible 304 mesh mica sheet is made of phlogopite mica paper with 304 stainless steel mesh inside as sandwiched between two layers of mica paper to sense and report worn out lining or metal run out, and early leakage of the molten metal through the refractory lining to an electronic control unit.
