1. Introduction to Release Film Testing (European Standard - EN)

Release films are commonly used functional materials in various industries such as electronics, optics, and aerospace. The European Standard (EN) is a set of technical standards collaboratively developed by European countries, including regulations for testing release films. This article provides a detailed introduction to the EN standard testing methods for release films, including testing equipment, procedures, and performance indicators.

2. Testing Equipment

To conduct EN standard release film testing, the following equipment is required:

Release Film Samples: Choose release film samples that meet the requirements of the EN standard.

Testing Machine: Used to measure the mechanical properties of the release film, such as tensile strength and elongation at break.

Spectrometer: Used to measure the optical properties of the release film, including light transmittance and reflectance.

Thermal Analyzer: Used to measure the thermal properties of the release film, such as thermal stability and thermal conductivity.

Surface Roughness Tester: Used to measure the surface roughness of the release film.

3. Testing Procedures

According to the European Standard (EN), the following steps should be followed to conduct release film testing:

3.1 Sample Preparation

Obtain release film samples that meet the EN standard requirements from the supplier, and cut them to the appropriate size as specified.

3.2 Mechanical Performance Testing

Use a testing machine to conduct mechanical performance testing on the release film samples. First, clamp the sample in the testing machine's fixture, then apply force at a constant speed. Measure mechanical properties such as tensile strength and elongation at break.

3.3 Optical Performance Testing

Use a spectrometer to test the optical properties of the release film samples. Place the sample on the measurement stage of the spectrometer, and measure optical properties such as light transmittance and reflectance.

3.4 Thermal Performance Testing

Use a thermal analyzer to test the thermal properties of the release film samples. Place the sample on the sample tray of the thermal analyzer. Heat or cool the sample to measure thermal stability, thermal conductivity, and other thermal performance indicators.

3.5 Surface Roughness Testing

Use a surface roughness tester to evaluate the surface roughness of the release film samples. Place the sample on the measurement stage of the tester and measure surface roughness parameters.

4. Testing Indicators

According to the EN standard, the testing indicators for release films include the following:

4.1 Mechanical Performance Indicators

Tensile Strength: The maximum force the release film can withstand during stretching.

Elongation at Break: The percentage of elongation the release film can undergo before breaking.

4.2 Optical Performance Indicators

Light Transmittance: The degree to which the release film allows visible light to pass through.

Reflectance: The degree to which the release film reflects visible light.

4.3 Thermal Performance Indicators

Thermal Stability: The ability of the release film to maintain its properties in high-temperature environments.

Thermal Conductivity: The ability of the release film to conduct heat.

4.4 Surface Roughness Indicators

Ra Value: The average surface roughness of the release film.

Rz Value: The maximum peak-to-valley height of the surface roughness of the release film.
