What are mica flakes?

Mica flakes are also called mica plates and mica plates. Thin mica sheets are sometimes referred to as mica paper. Mica sheets are mainly made of glued mica paper. Multiple sheets are stacked into a specific thickness, separated by fiberglass cloth, and then processed into mica sheets in a hot press.
Thin mica sheets are mainly used to make mica gaskets and can be used as heating wire holders in hair dryers, microwave ovens and other machines. Thick rigid mica sheets will be CNC machined into mica parts. It has high strength and can withstand high temperatures and high voltages.
Do you sell mica flakes?
Mica flakes include rigid mica flakes and flexible mica flakes. They use different kinds of silicone and heat pressing technology.
Depending on the mica raw materials, we can produce different types of mica flakes: muscovite flakes, phlogopite flakes, synthetic mica flakes, and calcined mica flakes. They can withstand different temperatures.
When using stainless steel sheets as separate materials, instead of fiberglass cloth, we can make glossy mica sheets.
There are also ultra-thick mica flakes, low-smoke mica flakes, and specially designed mica flakes, such as stainless steel mesh inlaid with mica flakes...
Mica sheet size
Popular mica sheet sizes are 600*1000mm, 1200*1000mm, 2000*1000mm, and 2400*1000mm. Mica sheet size depends on heat press size. We have a press that can process 2400*1000mm, which can improve production efficiency, save energy, and meet customers' large-size needs. The large size can also be cut into small sizes 1200*1000mm and 600*1000mm for easy transportation.
We also have a heat press with a smaller size of 1200*1000mm, which can be used to process thick mica flakes, which requires two hot pressings like ordinary mica flakes. It can also be used to process special mica flakes, such as stainless steel woven mica flakes, synthetic mica flakes, etc.
Mica flakes are an industry star insulation material. It can withstand high temperatures and high voltages. The most popular ones on the market are mica sheets produced by the lamination process, which are highly industrialized. We have 8 sets of mica paper production lines, 10 sets of mica sheet glue coating machines, and 4 sets of hot press machines. Annual output of mica flakes is 10,000 tons. Our mica flakes are UL (E248686) certified and comply with IEC371-3-3.
How do mica flakes work?
Mica flakes are used as high performance thermal and electrical insulation materials in a variety of industries such as:
Used as a supporting insulator for resistance wires, heating elements in electric toasters, hair dryers…
Heating elements for electrical and thermomechanical equipment
Construction of induction, electric arc or high frequency furnaces
High voltage applications
High heat applications
Industrial sealing and gasket industries (e.g. oil and gas distribution)
flexible mica sheet
Flexible mica sheets can be used as insulation in appliances, equipment, furnaces, electric vehicles and more.
Hard mica flakes
Hard mica sheets are made of about 90% muscovite mica paper, phlogopite mica paper or synthetic mica paper impregnated with high-temperature resistant silicone resin.
In the photo, the gray on the front is hard muscovite mica, the brown in the middle is hard phlogopite, and the white on the back is synthetic hard mica.
Used as a support insulator for resistance wires, heating elements in electric toasters, hair dryers, irons, curling irons, electric combs, strip heaters, baseboard heaters, and gaskets and other products with excellent moisture, heat, and mechanical resistance. , and require good electrical properties.
How to make mica sheets?
The process steps are as follows:
It is made by bonding high-quality muscovite mica paper, phlogopite mica paper or synthetic mica paper with high-temperature silicone resin.
Mica paper is heated and pressed into mica sheets.
Mica sheet cutting size: 1000*600mm, 1000*1200mm, 1000*2400mm
Every 50 kilograms of mica flakes are packed with PE film, packed in cartons, and then fixed with wooden pallets per 1 ton of mica flakes.
Mica sheet properties
It has excellent heat resistance and can even withstand open flames up to 1000°C.
Excellent electrical insulation.
High stress resistance.
Environmentally friendly and non-toxic.
