PLA, the full name of Polylactic Acid, is a biodegradable material made by fermenting starch extracted from renewable plant resources such as corn and sugarcane.
This PLA material is coated on food-grade kraft paper or wood pulp paper through a coating process to form a PLA coated paper that is waterproof and oil-proof and compostable.
This material is widely used in:
Cold drink cups/hot drink cups (such as milk tea cups, juice cups, coffee cups)
Degradable paper straws
Food packaging bowls/soup bowl lids
Biological-based packaging container linings
Why does the market need PLA Paper more and more?
With the introduction of "plastic ban bills" in the EU, Australia, Canada, South America and other countries, disposable plastic packaging is facing stricter restrictions.
Although traditional PE coated paper is cheap, it cannot be degraded and is gradually banned in many markets.
And PLA paper:
Under industrial composting conditions, it can be naturally degraded into water and carbon dioxide within 90 days
