First of all, what is coated paper?

Laminated paper evenly coats the hot-melt PE plastic film on the surface of the paper to form laminated paper, also called PE paper or plastic-coated paper. Compared with ordinary paper, it is waterproof and oil-proof. It is mainly used to make food cartons, paper cups, paper bags packaging, etc. It can also be used as waterproof paper for industrial use.

The difference between release paper and laminated paper

Release paper is coated with a layer of silicone release agent based on coated paper. The finished product is called release paper (silicone oil paper). Laminated paper is coated with a layer of PE film on the original paper base material. The finished product is called coated paper. Mainly suitable for packaging, food, medical, electronics, hardware, die-cutting, etc.

What are the types of laminated PE films?

It is a matte, non-glossy film. The full name of lamination is "PE lamination". There are two types of lamination: 1. Light cinema, and 2-Matt film. The light film is a transparent bright PE film with a shining surface; the matte film is a matte PE film with a bright surface.

Thickness and function of PE coating

The thickness of the PE coating is calculated per square meter, and the conventional coating quantity is -20 grams per square meter. However, depending on the use requirements and post-processing purposes, you can choose to coat the film with an appropriate quantity. Below we introduce several examples of film quantitative requirements for several uses. 1. If it is used for simple waterproof and moisture-proof packaging, then 10 grams per square meter of film is sufficient; 2. If it is used for adhesive, it is recommended that 12-15 Grams per square meter of PE film is appropriate; if 3.7 is used to make cartons and is heat-sealed (heat-sealed), then the film thickness needs to be 18-20 grams per square meter.

What are the advantages of PE-coated paper?

First of all, ordinary paper is composed of wood fibers and has strong water absorption, so it is coated on the surface of the paper. Everyone knows that paper absorbs moisture and is afraid of moisture. A laminating machine is used to hot-melt the PE plastic into a very thin film. Since it is hot-melted on the surface of the paper, the bonding work is not guaranteed, and it is not easy to separate in the later stage. Moreover, the entire process does not use any Chemical solvents that do not require adhesives when processing packaging materials. They directly use this layer of PE film to seal under hot melt. It is commonly used in food packaging to prevent moisture and oil. The disposable paper bags, hamburger paper bags, melon seed bags, paper lunch boxes, food paper bags, and airline garbage bags we see in our daily lives are all made of this material.
